Exploring Errors in Design / Glitched in Barcelona. Printed with purpose. Sent with distortion.
Graphic design is becoming increasingly automated, with tools that are faster, smarter, and easier to use. As a result, most outcomes look clean and controlled — leaving little room for mistakes. For this project, the goal was to go in a different direction. The final image was created entirely through scanning, without any digital editing. By glitching the word “TYPE” through analog scanner experiments, the project explores imperfection as a form of expression. These glitches aren’t just visual effects — they interrupt the system and show how messages can shift when passed through different tools, hands, and mediums. The surrounding text challenges the idea that typography is only meant to be read. It suggests that type can also communicate through form — by resisting, reacting, and breaking. Inspired by CCCB’s mission to investigate contemporary culture, the design uses layout, rhythm, and repetition to highlight how errors can open new creative possibilities.
